Jon Little, partner, Northill Capital, said: "Northill has grown steadily since we founded the business in 2010. The establishment of our US office underlines our intention to provide a strong distribution platform in the Americas to further support the long-term growth and development of the asset management firms in which we invest. Ravi’s proven track record over 20 years, his distribution expertise and strong client relationships within the asset management industry will make a significant contribution to our business and the implementation of our distribution strategy in the Americas."

Ravi Thakur, head of Americas Distribution, said: "Northill is an exciting, highly focused business with a growing portfolio of asset managers, all with best in class investment teams and a track record of outstanding performance. I look forward to working in partnership with these managers to provide access to the US institutional market that will expand their potential client base and market presence, and to working with the Northill management team to identify investment opportunities that fit with the profile of business in which the firm looks to invest."

Jon Little said: "We look for focused, style-pure investment teams with a proven track record of returns to investors, irrespective of investment style or asset class. Businesses we like have a strong identifiable culture, a collaborative investment style and substantial equity ownership in the hands of those who run the business, ensuring that management and shareholders are aligned in the decisions they make for the long-term growth of the business.

"As capital constraints and regulatory pressures continue to impact financial institutions in Europe and the US in particular, smaller asset managers with quality products but who lack distribution or access to capital will look to revise their ownership structure. We continue to consider some excellent opportunities for investment in this environment."
