Fund services provider Zedra has snapped up has acquired UK-based Inside Pensions, which provides occupational pension scheme governance support.

The financial terms of the transaction were not revealed.

Founded in 2018, Inside Pensions offers support to trustee boards of pension trusts by ensuring compliant board administration and best practice governance. The firm, which operates from St. Albans, Hertfordshire, is claimed to have a portfolio of blue-chip clients.

According Zedra, Inside Pensions’s outsourced solution is attractive to any board of trustees, with pension regulations becoming increasingly difficult to manage for those without specific industry and regulatory knowledge.

This solution enables trustees to focus on their strategic responsibilities while ensuring their schemes are in line with best practices in governance and regulatory requirements.

Inside Pension’s team will join Zedra’s team in Guernsey, which provides global clients employee benefits, pensions, and associated administrative services.

Expansion in the UK

The deal, which accelerates Zedra’s expansion in the UK, adds 39 staffs and diversifies its service offering and bolsters its presence in the pension services space.

It follows the company’s acquisition of Fitzgerald & Law in September last year, which increased its workforce by 70.

Zedra said it will further operate out of Manchester with its estate planning offering, provided by an additional 72 members of staff.

Zedra CEO Ivo Hemelraad said that the ‘unrivalled expertise and experience of the Inside Pensions team’ will considerably extend the level of support the company offers to its clients in the pension services space both in the UK and in other jurisdictions.

Speaking on the development, Inside Pensions chairman and founder Rita Powell said: “Being part of ZEDRA will enable Inside Pensions to continue to focus on excellent client service and offer a wider range of services to our clients.”

Inside Pensions co-managing director Rachael Fortescue added that the company’s ‘long-standing industry experience’ is a perfect fit with Zedra’s inherited wealth of knowledge of the role of trustees.’
