Charity donations of more than $1m by high net worth individuals
in the UK have risen for the first time in three years.

The third annual Coutts Million Pound Donor Report recorded a
total of 201 individual donations above $1m between 2009 and 2010,
compared to 193 in 2006/2007 and 189 in 2007/2008.

Coutts said the value of donations more than £1m highlighted the
recovery from the recession. In 2009/2010, the total value was
£1.55bn, up about £143m from £1.4bn in 2007/2008.

Not back to pre-recession levels

While the value of donations has not returned to pre-recession
levels, the number of other donations has stayed consistent, the
bank said.
