Investment management company Vanguard has announced the creation of a new advice and wealth management division, which will be headed by Joanna Rotenberg.

Vanguard’s advice and wealth management businesses are rapidly growing, driven by its philosophy of diversified, and low-cost solutions that maximise client returns, stated the company.

Rotenberg, an industry veteran, will join Vanguard in January 2025 to lead the division as a managing director and a member of the company’s senior leadership team.

She brings experience to her new role, having served as the president of personal investing at Fidelity, where she led retirement, brokerage, and wealth management businesses.

Her previous roles include over a decade at BMO Financial Group and a partnership at McKinsey, focusing on wealth and asset management.

In conjunction with the new division, Vanguard has made several executive changes to expand its senior leadership team.

Matt Benchener will continue as managing director and head of Vanguard’s personal investor business, focusing on digital client experiences and various investment solutions.

John James, formerly managing director of the Institutional Investor Group, will oversee workplace and advisor solutions. Lauren Valente, previously chief human resources officer, will now lead the Institutional Investor Group.

Jon Couture, an experienced chief human resources officer, joins Vanguard this month to succeed Lauren.

Vanguard CEO Salim Ramji said: “For nearly five decades, Vanguard has been a positive force in democratising investing, helping to give tens of millions of investors the best chance for investment success.

“With the addition of Joanna to our leadership team, our goal is to further democratize our advice and wealth management offerings for our clients through enhanced technologies and offers – with the same client zeal that Vanguard has long been known for.”

Founded in 1975, Vanguard offers investments, advice, and retirement services to a global clientele. It operates under an investor-owned structure.
