GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, has revealed its league tables for top 10 legal advisers by value and volume in South & Central America for Q1-Q3 2021 in its report, ‘Global and South & Central America M&A Report Legal Adviser League Tables Q1-Q3 2021’.
According to GlobalData’s M&A report, a total of 782 mergers and acquisition (M&A) deals were announced in the region during Q1-Q3 2021. The deal value for the region increased by 106.8% from $44bn during Q1-Q3 2020 to $91bn during Q1-Q3 2021.
Top Advisers by Value and Volume
Pinheiro Neto Advogados and Bronstein, Zilberberg, Chueiri & Potenza Advogados emerged as the top mergers and acquisition legal advisers in South and Central America for Q1-Q3 2021 in terms of value and volume, respectively.
Pinheiro Neto Advogados advised on 14 deals valued at $11.5bn, which was the highest value among all the advisers.
Meanwhile, Bronstein, Zilberberg, Chueiri & Potenza Advogados led in volume terms, having advised on 25 deals worth $202m.
GlobalData lead analyst Aurojyoti Bose said: “Bronstein, Zilberberg, Chueiri & Potenza Advogados was the clear winner in terms of volume as it was the only firm to advise on more than 25 deals, outpacing its peers by a significant margin. However, despite leading in volume terms, Bronstein, Zilberberg, Chueiri & Potenza Advogados failed to feature in GlobalData’s ranking of the top 10 advisers by value due to its involvement in low value transactions.
“Despite Pinheiro Neto Advogados advising on just 14 deals, the firm beat its peers to the top spot in terms of value due to its involvement in high value transactions. While Pinheiro Neto Advogados advised on two billion-dollar deals (valued more than or equal to US$1bn), Bronstein, Zilberberg, Chueiri & Potenza Advogados didn’t even advise on one deal valued more than $100m.”
Mattos Filho Veiga Filho Marrey Jr e Quiroga took the second spot in value chart with 11 deals worth $11bn. It was followed by Lefosse Advogados with six deals worth $9.8bn, Madrona Advogados with five deals worth $9.4bn and Souza Mello e Torres Advogados with two deals worth $9.2bn.
Pinheiro Neto Advogados got the second position in terms of volume. It was followed by Machado Meyer Sendacz e Opice with 14 deals worth $3.2bn.
Mattos Filho Veiga Filho Marrey Jr e Quiroga got the fourth position in terms of volume, followed by Baker McKenzie with ten deals valued at $899m.
