State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) has appointed Sue Thompson as head of Americas Distribution for SPDR ETFs,  effective immediately.

He will be based in Boston and will report directly to SPDR ETFs global head Rory Tobin.

SPDR ETFs includes an array of international and domestic asset classes and it is managed by SSGA Funds Management, a subsidiary of STT.

In the new role, Thompson will be in charge of the development of the SPDR ETF distribution strategy for all client channels in the Americas.

“SPDR manages more than $629bn in global ETF assets under management, offering all investors access to the investment leadership of State Street Global Advisors through more than 240 ETFs, providing investors the tools to meet their investment objectives.”

Earlier, Thompson was working as the president and CEO of Thompson Peak Advisory which advises several investment managers on growth and distribution strategies.

She was also associated with BlackRock and Vanguard in different positions in her 20 year long career.
