Schroders Personal Wealth (SPW) has appointed Marcelo Rodrigues as head of business development for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

In his new role, Rodrigues will lead SPW’s brand and marketing activities across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

He will also be responsible for developing strategic partnerships to support business growth.

Most recently, Rodrigues was business development director at a Edinburgh-based boutique wealth management firm, where he also offered financial advice to HNW clients.

Prior to that, he held senior management positions at Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group.

SPW regional director for Scotland and Northern Ireland Donald Gateley said that the new appointment reflects the firm’s continued commitment to Scotland and Northern Ireland and builds on its long-term regional growth strategy to widen its offering across UK.

Gateley added: “Marcelo has a vast amount of knowledge and experience along with an extensive network across many business organisations in Scotland and Northern Ireland. He is therefore ideally placed to support SPW’s mission of providing more advice to more people.”

Rodrigues commented: “I’m delighted to have joined SPW as it continues to grow its regional presence. We have ambitious plans and I look forward to leading our growth strategy and developing strong partnerships in Scotland and Northern Ireland.”

Launched in 2019, SPW is a joint venture of Lloyds and Schroders and provides financial planning service to wealthy UK clients.

Last September, the firm launched an academy with the aim of equipping candidates with the skills and qualifications required to become personal wealth advisers.

Last June, SPW CEO Peter Hetherington decided to resign after eight months in the role to pursue other prospective opportunities.
