British fund manager Schroders has appointed Andy Chorlton as its new head of fixed income, replacing Philippe Lespinard.

Chorlton’s appointment will be effective next month.

He will report to global head of investment Charles Prideaux and become part of the Schroders Group Management Committee.

Prideaux noted: “Andy will build on the strength of Schroders Fixed Income investment platform, which delivers investment research and high alpha flagship strategies alongside investment solutions to meet clients’ increasingly complex investment needs.

“Andy’s fixed income investment experience meant he was the stand-out candidate to succeed Philippe and we are convinced he will continue to drive our focus on client performance as well as the growth of the platform.

Lespinard has been serving as Schroders’ fixed income head for 10 years. The succession plan will be completed by March next year.

Chorlton joined the New York office of Schroders in 2013 after the takeover of STW Fixed Income in the US by the fund manager.

He was latterly the head of US Multi-Sector & Fixed Income Solutions at Schroders.

Fixed income fund manager Lisa Hornby will replace Chorlton as the head of US Multi-Sector Fixed Income, and spearhead the team from New York.

Schroders portfolio managers Neil Sutherland, Julio Bonilla and Ryan Mostafa will assist Hornby.

Hornby will continue to report to Chorlton.
