Santander Asset Management has appointed Mariano Belinky as its new head, replacing Juan Manuel San Roman who has decided to leave owing to personal reasons.

Belinky most recently headed Santander InnoVentures, the fintech investment fund of Santander.

Santander InnoVentures will now be headed by Manuel Silva, while Mario Aransay will continue to head portfolio partnerships for the fund.

Belinky previously served as the associate principal at McKinsey & Co, in the research technology team at Bridgewater Associates, and as equity derivatives trader in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The latest appointment comes few months after the group created a new global wealth management unit by integrating its private banking and asset management businesses. The newly formed division is led by Victor Matarranz.

“By combining Santander’s experience and expertise in asset management with the group’s technological capabilities, we can transform the services we offer our clients. Mariano has an outstanding track record in driving innovation and delivering for customers and I am confident he will help Santander Asset Management achieve its full potential,” Matarranz noted.
