RPMI Railpen, the asset manager for the UK Railways Pension Fund, has named Richard Williams as its CIO and Paul Bishop as its head of private markets.

In the newly created role, Williams will manage the firm’s asset management capabilities in the public, private and property markets as well as oversee the proper deployment of the firm’s pooled fund investment strategies.

The remit of Bishop’s role, which too is a newly created one, involves management of all private market investments at Railpen.

Williams and Bishop have been working at Railpen since 2014 and 2011, respectively. The pair has previously served as investment directors at the firm.

Commenting on the new appointments, Railpen managing director Julian Cripps said: “Through their continued efforts Richard and Paul will help to grow our internal investment capabilities and fulfil our mission to pay members’ pensions securely, affordably and sustainably.”
