Quintet Private Bank, which is headquartered in Luxembourg and operates throughout Europe and the United Kingdom, celebrated its 75th anniversary.

With five employees, Kredietbank Luxembourg launched for business on Rue Notre Dame on 23 May 1949, with the goal of assisting local business, industry, and government as part of the nation’s larger endeavour to promote post-war development.

In the ensuing decades, Kredietbank also ventured into new development sectors as the steel-dominated national economy started to diversify into other sectors, such as financial services.

To illustrate, the bank made the first foreign bond loan in “European Currency Units,” which served as a stand-in for the common currency, in 1961.

As one of the top issuers of Eurobonds by the early 1970s, Kredietbank had started construction on a new 12-story headquarters on Boulevard Royal.

By acquiring Brown Shipley and wealth managers in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium as well as launching an asset management division, the bank broadened its geographic scope in the 1980s.

Moreover, the bank has made notable partnerships, acquisitions, mergers, and strategic investments over the years.

In 2020, it rebranded as Quintet Private Bank, and it later launched Quintet Danmark.

Group CEO Chris Allen stated: “Today, exactly 75 years after our founding in Luxembourg, we look back with pride at all we have achieved, recognising that we carry on the work of the thousands of women and men who came before us. With a unique heritage and deep commitment to the families who place their trust in us, Quintet is a true ‘Made in Luxembourg’ success story.

“Reflecting on the last three quarters of a century in Luxembourg – a period marked by the birth of the country’s modern financial center, followed by its expansion into a thriving ecosystem that connects investors and markets around the world – we are grateful for the opportunities the Grand Duchy has afforded us.”

“Most of all, I would like to extend my gratitude to every Kredietbank, KBL and Quintet colleague, past and present, for contributing to 75 years of success,” he concluded.

“Our history inspires our confidence in the future and recognition that, as time marches on, Quintet will continue to evolve, improve and grow.”
