Oaktree Capital Management, a US-based asset management firm specializing in alternative investment strategies, has opened an office in Sydney, Australia.
The office will be led by Byron Beath as managing director. He will oversee investment activities in the region in his new role.
Beath joined Oaktree in 2016 to focus on investment opportunities for the Global Principal Group in Australia and New Zealand.
Prior to that, he worked for 15 years with Macquarie Bank, where he was a director in the corporate and asset finance division.
Oaktree Global Principal Group managing director and co-portfolio manager Matt Wilson said: "Establishing an office in Sydney was the logical next step in increasing our exposure in the region. We are excited to have Byron on board to lead our efforts and are proud to formalize our presence here."
Beath said: "Opening an office in Sydney will better enable Oaktree to create and seize investment opportunities across Australia and New Zealand.
