Northern Trust, a US-based investment management firm, has strengthened its wealth management team in Georgia by appointing Glenn Weiss as president, and a member of the east region operating group.

In his new role, Weiss will manage the wealth management business in Georgia and the neighbouring southeastern states, focusing on building the company’s presence locally and expanding the business regionally.

Based in Northern Trust’s Atlanta office, Weiss will report to Brett Rees, president of the mid-Atlantic region.

Weiss, who has been with Northern Trust for over 14 years in the wealth management business, has more than 25 years of experience in serving the wealth management needs of HNW customers and the asset management needs of non-profit clients.

At Northern Trust, most recently he served as senior managing director for a Chicago wealth advisory team.

Weiss also held various positions in the company, including senior wealth strategist, regional sales manager for the Chicago suburban communities, managing director for the DuPage (IL) wealth advisory team. He also worked at Fifth Third Bank from 1993 to 2002.

Commenting on his appointment, Rees said: “Glenn brings extensive wealth management experience, a depth of business acumen, proven leadership skills and a keen understanding of Northern Trust’s commitment to delivering superior client service.”
