To fortify its investment offering to clients, Nikko Asset Management (Nikko AM) has brought in a team of six portfolio managers, led by William Low, who previously managed the high-alpha equity team at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, now owned by Aberdeen Asset Management.

Based in Edinburgh, the team includes global fund manager Stephen Corr, investment directors James Kinghorn, Greig Bryson, Iain Fulton and Johnny Russell.

The team will be responsible for global equities investment and will manage benchmark-agnostic long-only global equity portfolios, working closely with the firm’s London office.

In addition, the global equity team will also communicate with Nikko AM’s Asian equity team, which is based in Singapore and Sydney and led by Peter Sartori.

Prior to joining Swip, Low worked at BlackRock, where he led a Europe, Australasia and Far East (Eafe) team. He moved to Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (now owned by Aberdeen Asset Management) in 2011 to manage Eafe mandates.

Yu-Ming Wang, global head of investment at Nikko Asset Management, said: "The track record that Will Low and his five colleagues have assembled demonstrates that they are exceptionally qualified as active global equity managers, and we look forward to their contribution to our European business."
