Nedbank Private Wealth has named Chris Kirk as its new chief risk officer as part of a restructuring of its risk and compliance teams.

Kirk will spearhead the firm’s risk across the UK, Jersey, Guernsey as well as the Isle of Man.

He will also manage second line assurance of activities such as credit risk, operational risk enterprise wide, and prudential risk.

He will operate out of the firm’s Isle of Man office.

At the same time, he will be the firm’s executive committee member.

Background

Kirk spent most part of his financial career of more than 33 years at HSBC.

His three-decade-long stint at HSBC includes various executive positions. These include global head of financial crime compliance for the commercial banking arm.

Additionally, Kirk served at challenger banks and at global blue-chip firms in London, continental Europe and Jersey.

Other appointments

Earlier this year, Nedbank Private Wealth appointed David McFadzean as the head of wealth management.

McFadzean will be responsible for growing the firm’s HNW client base for its wealth planning, investment management and private banking services.

Besides, the firm appointed Andrew Halsall as the head of private banking in the Isle of Man.

Last year, the firm hired John Williams as the head of wealth planning for its international operations.

Williams joined from Credit Suisse UK, where he held a similar role for five years.
