Multi-family office Stonehage Fleming has named John Connolly as the new chairman of its board, replacing Charles Erasmus.

Connolly most recently worked at Deloitte. He spent 45 years at the firm, latterly as its senior partner and global chairman.

Connolly stated: “I have been most impressed by Stonehage Fleming’s excellent reputation, its client-centric approach and the quality and ambition of its people.

“It’s an exciting time to be taking on this role and I am looking forward to working with a business that has such great potential for further growth, and with a team that has redefined the modern family office.”

At present, Connolly chairs the FTSE 100 company G4S and is executive chairman of Cogital Group.

He also chaired Amec Foster Wheeler prior to its consolidation with Wood Group as well as chaired Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

He takes on the new role immediately.

Last month, Stonehage Fleming named Chris Merry as its new CEO, replacing Giuseppe Ciucci.

Ciucci remained with the group as a full time managing partner and deputy chairman of the board.

Commenting on the latest appointment, Merry noted: “John’s distinguished track record in both the professional services and corporate world makes him the ideal Chairman for Stonehage Fleming.

“His extensive experience and strategic vision will contribute enormously to shaping the future growth of the firm.”
