Mirae Asset Investment Managers (DIFC) has also obtained a Prudential Category 3C Regulatory Licence from the Dubai Financial Services Authority.

The licence permits the company to manage and distribute collective investment funds for institutional and professional clients in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The Dubai expansion forms part of Mirae Asset’s regional plans.

The firm intends to strengthen ties with current distribution partners and increase its reach among institutional investors in the GCC, family offices, and members of the Indian diaspora in the Middle East and East Africa.

Mirae Asset Investment Managers (DIFC) non-executive director Swarup Mohanty said:  “The establishment of our presence in DIFC marks a significant milestone in Mirae Asset’s global growth journey and reinforces our commitment to serving investors across the Middle East with greater proximity and engagement.

“Through our Dubai platform, we aim to deepen relationships with institutional investors, family offices, distribution partners, and the large Indian diaspora community.”

Mirae Asset Financial Group oversees more than $800bn in assets globally.

Established in 1997 and based in South Korea, the group is active in asset management, wealth management, securities, investment banking, insurance, and alternative investments.

Mirae Asset Global Investments manages more than $400bn in assets worldwide. It operates in 22 markets across Asia and provides products covering equities, fixed income, ETFs, multi-asset strategies, alternatives, private markets, and thematic investments.

DIFC has 10,018 active registered companies, of which 592 are wealth and asset management firms.

DIFC Authority CEO Arif Amiri said: “Mirae Asset’s decision to establish a regulated presence in DIFC endorses Dubai’s position as a global centre for wealth and asset management, and of the opportunities the region presents to leading international investment firms.”

Separately, last month, EFG International appointed Ranjit Khanna as CEO of its Dubai Advisory Office.

Khanna will oversee the next phase of the office’s development in Dubai, as the bank deepens its operations in the DIFC and across the UAE.
