Swiss private bank Julius Baer has appointed Regis Burger as the new head of its Middle East operations (including Levant) and Alain Ucari as the head of Africa and Turkey businesses.

While Burger will be based in Dubai, Ucari will operate out of the bank’s offices in Zurich and Monaco.

The two already are part of the management committee of the emerging markets region, a role they will retain.

The duo will report to head of emerging markets Rémy Bersier. The appointments are immediately effective.

Since joining Julius Baer in 2006, Burger held various senior positions including head of business management for the emerging markets region and CEO of Julius Baer (Middle East).

His 20-year private banking career also includes a stint at Credit Suisse.
