Alan Edwards has joined Julius Baer’s London office as a senior relationship manager (RM) with the rank of managing director senior adviser.

Edwards will head Julius Baer’s business in the North West region of the UK, and will report to David Durlacher, head of RM.

Edwards has more than 30 years’ experience in RM and advising high and ultra-high net worth individuals (UHNW), family offices and foundations.

Since 2009, Edwards was Barclays Wealth’s regional centre head for Manchester and Liverpool, and was also responsible for the bank’s Leeds office.

Prior to that, Edwards was head of private banking for the North East business of Coutts & Co., where he managed a book of key UHNW for the Leeds and Newcastle business. He has also, formerly, been the head of wealth for Northern England at HSBC.

Adam Horowitz, head of the Julius Baer business in the UK, said: "There has been significant wealth creation over recent decades in the North West and Julius Baer is committed to bringing the new reference in wealth management to the region".

Another bank that has recently boosted senior staff in the North West of the UK has been Barclays W&IM, with the appointment of former RBS executive, Steve Renfrew, as regional head of its wealth and investment management (W&IM) division for its North Western business.
