Janus Henderson taps BNY Mellon for global data management platform

By Johney Amala

British fund manager Janus Henderson has selected BNY Mellon’s global data management platform in a bid to create a unified data store.

The decision to adopt the BNY platform, which allows clients to centralise and manage complex investment assets, in line with Janus Henderson’s data platform transformation strategy.

The move is aimed at enabling Janus Henderson to enhance access to its investment information.

BNY Mellon’s cloud-based solution will set up a unified data architecture and single source of truth for investment intelligence by consolidating sources of information.

BNY Mellon head of Data and Analytics Solutions Charles Teschner said: “We’re excited to work with Janus Henderson to maximise the value of their data, and their selection of our solutions reinforces our position as a leader in providing cloud-based data and analytics capabilities to help meet our clients’ needs.

“This further validates the data management journey that we have been on for several years now, and our proven capabilities and strategy that we executed to build a data platform on Microsoft Azure aligns well with Janus Henderson’s own technology strategy.”

Last year, BNY Mellon launched Data Vault to enhance its data management portfolio offering.

Built on Microsoft Azure, Data Vault facilitates the rapid onboarding of data to offer increased flexibility. Additionally, it uses machine learning to help users more quickly and easily interact with data to gain actionable insights.

Janus Henderson chief information officer Paul Algreen said: “We have been deeply impressed by the BNY Mellon team, the solution’s capabilities, and the strategic vision and experience they bring.

“Entering into such a relationship is a long-term commitment, and we look forward to the team’s support as we continue our transformation journey to continually meet and exceed our clients’ asset management needs, today and tomorrow.”

Last year, BNY Mellon selected Liontrust Asset Management as the first end-to-end client on its new Investment Operations platform.

In 2019, Victorian Funds Management, a government-owned investment specialist in the Australian state of Victoria, partnered with BNY Mellon to drive data transformation programme.
