Bahraini investment manager Investcorp has launched a new business, which will focus on purchasing minority equity stakes in mid-sized alternative asset managers. The new venture, called Strategic Capital Partners, will invest in private equity, private debt, real estate, venture capital as well as hedge fund managers.

The business will be headed by Anthony Maniscalco, who joins as managing partner within the firm’s Absolute Return Investments group.

Maniscalco previously worked as the managing director and co-head of Credit Suisse’s Anteil Capital Partners business.

His financial career of over 25 years also includes a stint at Blackstone Strategic Capital Holdings.

“Investcorp has shown unwavering commitment to alternative investing for over 35 years, which aligns with our approach as active partners with alternative asset managers,” Maniscalco stated.

Maniscalco will be supported by David Lee and Dhanraj Chandiramani. Both Lee and Chandiramani previously served at Credit Suisse.

At Investcorp, Lee will serve as a partner, while Dhanraj Chandiramani will assume the role of vice-president.

Investcorp co-CEO Rishi Kapoor said: “We are looking forward to expanding our range of capabilities by introducing this new strategy that will target investments in mid-sized managers across different alternative asset classes.

“Anthony’s deep experience in the alternative investment management space will be a great addition to our team as we continue to grow our alternatives strategy across the globe.”
