HSBC Private Banking appoints EMEA head

By Patrick Brusnahan

HSBC Private Banking has hired Victor Wang as EMEA head of Asia coverage and connectivity.

Wang will work in London and report to Shailesh Jaiswal, the interim head of international, Private Banking UK on an entity basis. Functionally, he will report to Ivan Wong, interim market head, North Asia, HSBC Private Banking.

Furthermore, Wang is set to play a key role in driving collaboration between colleagues in Asia and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will also work with the global relationship managers and a dedicated international connectivity team based in Asia.

With 19 years of experience at HSBC, Wang brings a wealth of experience to this newly created role. He joined China Global Banking (GB) as a management trainee and proceeded to hold several roles in GB covering a wide range of multinationals.

In 2010, he became Team Head in GB South China before relocating to London to lead and drive Chinese corporate business in Europe. Most recently, Wang headed up the China Desk for UK, Continental and International Europe.

Wong said: “Victor’s experience across Asia and Europe will prove invaluable in this newly created role. Europe represents a key component in the global investment strategy for many Asian clients. Our strength in Asia combined with our global reach means we can offer clients access to key growth markets, investment opportunities and best-in-class expertise as we look to bolster our global connectivity.”
