Foresight Group, an independent infrastructure and private equity investment manager, has deepened its sustainability capabilities by wrapping up the purchase of Pensions Infrastructure Platform (PiP).

Both the parties concerned are signatories of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

Financial terms of the deal, announced last month, were not revealed.

The takeover of PiP, which supports long-term pension scheme investment into UK infrastructure, boosts Foresight’s AUM to £6.5bn ($8.5bn) across institutional and UK retail funds.

The PiP platform and portfolio will now be a discrete entity within Foresight.

The existing PiP team will retain the management of PiP’s assets and relationships with its LPs.

PiP CEO Paula Burgess said: “We are thrilled to be joining Foresight. We will continue to help UK pension funds enhance their infrastructure allocations, while bringing additional skills and resources to attract greater investment as part of a larger platform.”

As part of the deal, Burgess now serves as a partner of Foresight.

The PiP team, including CIO Ed Wilson and head of Asset Management Andy Clapp, has moved to Foresight’s infrastructure team of investment and asset management professionals.

Foresight chairman Bernard Fairman said: “Investment in infrastructure and particularly in green infrastructure lies at the heart of the Government’s recovery plans.

“Our team at Foresight continues to target long-term investment into projects that are transforming the infrastructure of the UK, boosting jobs, helping accelerate the much-needed economic recovery and creating a smarter future for all.”

Foresight is based in London, with other offices located in Manchester, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Leicester and Guernsey, Sydney, Rome, Madrid, Luxembourg as well as Seoul.

Consolidation activities have been rampant in the UK financial services space recently, the latest being Wren Sterling’s acquisition of Frobisher Capital.

Another recent M&A deal in the UK includes the purchase of pension and investment firm Pension Matters by Seven Bridges.
