First Republic Bank, a private bank and wealth management firm, has hired Clarke Leaverton and Spencer Strahan from Merrill Lynch for its private wealth management office in Portland.

Leaverton and Strahan, who have more than 30 years of investment experience, have been named managing directors and investment consultants.
The duo have has joined First Republic from Merrill Lynch, where they most recently served as senior vice presidents and earlier as investment advisors.
