Elk River Wealth Management has launched as an independent Registered Investment Adviser (RIA).
The firm delivers investment management, complete planning and wealth solutions for individuals, families and business owners.
Elk River Wealth’s CEO and chief investment officer Chris Freimuth is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) cardholder. Prior to founding Elk River Wealth, Freimuth was president and CIO at CoBiz Wealth. He was also employed at Alexander Capital Management Group for 15 years previously.
Freimuth said: “It may seem like an odd time to start a firm, but we think just the opposite. Now more than ever, people are uncertain about their personal and financial well-being and we stand ready to help. That’s why we created Elk River Wealth and decided to launch today: to help the great people of our region across every aspect of their financial life.”
The team consists of Rita Koch Day, Juliet Hull and Brooks Merrifield.
Day’s roll will be chief compliance officer and managing director of operations. Hull is a certified financial planner who will serve as director of relationship management. Merrifield will join the firm as senior wealth adviser and merge his current RIA, Merrifield & Company, under the Elk River brand.
Freimuth and the team have collectively managed over $1bn in assets under management at their prior firms.
Elk River Wealth has also partnered with Wealth Advisor Growth Network (WAGN). WAGN will provide access to industry expertise and network of specialists to solve clients’ needs. Additionally, WAGN’s recent partnership with Merchant Investment Management will further support Elk River.
“With WAGN’s help, we’ve invested time and resources to align the digital tools to make life easier, safer and more productive for clients,” added Chris Freimuth. “These actions will enable us to conduct virtual, interactive meetings to help clients navigate today’s environment.”
WAGN is led by industry experts John Phoenix and Jay Hummel. Both Phoenix and Hummel have been former RIA owners and have had senior roles at Envestnet and American Century Investments. John and Jay will both serve as Partners at Elk River Wealth.
Phoenix said: “We’re proud to partner with Elk River Wealth and welcome the firm as a strategic partner of WAGN. We are excited to help Chris and the team create something special for clients across Colorado, the Rocky Mountains and the entire Western United States.”
Hummel added: “Too many big institutions are pushing products while too many small RIAs feature limited offerings. Elk River Wealth offers the unique blend of personal touch and local focus backed by the depth and breadth of world-class specialists and resources.”
