
Dimensional Fund Advisors, which focuses on systematic factor investing, has named Joel Kim as the CEO of its operations in Asia ex Japan.
Kim will assume the new responsibility next month, reporting to Steve Clark.
He will operate out of Singapore.
Kim has been working at Dimensional since 2016, latterly as the head of Fixed Income, International, in the London office.
Before Dimensional Fund Advisors, he was the head of Asia Pacific fixed income at BlackRock, Singapore.
In this role, he oversaw the portfolio management of active and index fixed income strategies in the region.
He also had a stint of around 14 years at ING Investment Management.
“With more than 20 years of industry experience and vast knowledge of our investment process and international business, Joel will bring great strength to our client services and investment operations in the region,” Clark noted.
Kim will serve as the CEO and a director of Dimensional’s Singapore unit, as well as a director of Dimensional Hong Kong.
He will manage the firm’s business interests and will work with local and global leadership to spearhead the development of a multiyear growth strategy.
He will also represent the firm in client and regulatory affairs, industry and community events.
Austin, Texas-based Dimensional managed $514bn at the end of June 2020.
Its Asia offices are located in Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.
