Delaware Investments, the asset management unit of Macquarie, has appointed John Leonard as head of equities.

Based in Philadelphia, Leonard will be providing strategic oversight to the firm’s nine US-based equity investment teams.

Leonard, who is also a member of the global management committee led by Macquarie Investment Management global head Ben Bruck, will report to president of Delaware Investments, Shawn Lytle.

Prior to joining Delaware Investments, he worked at UBS Global Asset Management in various roles including as global head of equities.

Commenting on the appointment, Lytle said: “John is a preeminent money manager who has significant experience leading equity teams with different investment styles. He is a strong fit with our multiboutique investment culture and I am confident under his leadership we will continue to provide diverse equity offerings that best meet the varying needs of our global clients.”

Bruck said: “John’s asset management experience and leadership skills are key assets for the firm as we selectively add to our equities capabilities globally.”
