Gance, who is replacing Alain Massiera, has been CEO of Credit Agricole Suisse S.A. for the last four years and will continue to perform the relevant duties until a new CEO of Credit Agricole Suisse is selected.

After joining the banking commitments division of Banque Indosuez in 1977, Gancel moved to the major corporates division where he was head of corporate clients from 1980 to 1986.

Between 1986 and 1992, he served as director of the Nord Pas-de-Calais region based in Lille, and then director of the Rhones-Alpes division in Lyon.

In 1992, he became head of private banking in France at Banque Indosuez. In 1999, he was appointed CEO of Banque de Gestion Privee Indosuez, and remained in this position until 2007, when he became chief executive of Credit Agricole Suisse.
