Citigroup has hired Usman Ahmed as new chief executive of its Bahrain business as well as CEO of Islamic investment bank business, replacing Mazin Manna.

In his new roles, Ahmed will be responsible for managing Citi’s operations in Bahrain as well as lead Citi’s effort to provide value added Islamic banking products and services to its clients globally.

Ahmed previously worked as head of corporate and investment banking for Citi Philippines and the head of Islamic banking for the Asia Pacific region.

He also held several roles in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, having worked with Citi in Hong Kong, Dubai, London, Bahrain and Pakistan.

"We have a very strong franchise in Bahrain and will continue to provide the highest standards of products and services to our clients, while fulfilling our role as an active member of the Bahraini banking community," said Ahmed.
