Butterfield Bank (Guernsey) has appointed Richard Saunders as interim managing director and head of wealth management for Guernsey, effective 1 October 2015.

John Robinson, who is currently the managing director, will retire at the end of September 2015.

Saunders, who joined Butterfield as a senior manager and head of Guernsey’s investment team in 2000, was most recently the bank’s head of European asset management. His prior experience includes seven years with RBC dealing with private client investments.

Commenting on the appointment, Butterfield Group president & COO Conor O’Dea said: "Richard is a very experienced senior executive and has been highly effective as our head of the asset management team in Guernsey and latterly Europe.

"I am confident that, with his investment knowledge and leadership experience within the business, Richard is the right choice for Interim Managing Director and Head of Wealth Management in Guernsey, and that he will be key to the ongoing development of our Guernsey business."
