UK wealth manager Brewin Dolphin has decided to close doors on its York office after seven years.

The shutting down of the office is attributed to the development of its Leeds office by consolidating the York branch. The merger will lead to a team totalling 45 qualified investment managers and financial planners with approximately £1.5bn of assets under management. This development will be under the leadership of Michael Craven, head of Brewin Dolphin in Leeds.

Craven said: "I believe that all of our clients throughout the country and beyond will benefit from having one stronger Yorkshire office with considerably increased resources and we look forward to welcoming clients and colleagues from York."

Stephen Ford, director of Brewin Dolphin, also said: "While we recognise this is a sad day for York, we are continually reviewing how we conduct business to ensure our clients receive the best possible service."

The York office was launched in 2007 after a team defected from Barclays Wealth. At the time Brewin merged its Scarborough office into the new York office.
