At JPMorgan, Kuki most recently served as the chairman of the company’s Japan operations. He worked for nine years at JPMorgan’s investment banking arm holding leadership positions.

Kuki previously also held senior leadership roles at UBS Securities and Lehman, as well as had stints at the Japan Development Bank and Shearson Lehman Hutton in New York.

Blackstone chairman, CEO and co-founder Stephen Schwarzman said: “Katsuyuki Kuki brings a wealth of insight to Blackstone from his 30 years of experience as a senior leader in Japan’s financial services industry.

“We look forward to his leadership and expertise in the country and greater Asia Pacific region, which is an increasingly important part of our business.”
