BlackRock is making several changes to its management ranks, which includes transferring more responsibility to regional leaders and overhauling its alternatives investment arm.

As part of the changes, Sarah Melvin has now been appointed to the newly created position of head of UK.

Melvin, who previously led the BlackRock US and Canada institutional client unit, will be replaced by Zachary Buchwald.

Besides, Armando Senra was appointed as head of US Canada and Latin America iShares.

Senra, formerly head of Latin America, was succeeded by Dominik Rohe.

Meanwhile, Rohe, who led the Australia unit, was replaced by Andrew Landman.

Among other changes include Edwin Conway’s appointment as global head of BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI).

He formerly headed the BlackRock institutional client business.

Conway succeeded David Blumer, who will now serve as an adviser while continuing to chair the firm’s Swiss operations.

Jim Barry was appointed as the CIO of BAI. He previously was the global head of real assets.

Mark McCombe has been appointed to the newly created position of chief client officer.

At the same time, Mark Wiedman will head up management of Latin America, in addition to his other roles of head of international and corporate strategy.

BlackRock global CIO of fixed income Rick Rieder now becomes the head of global asset allocation.

Robert Fairbairn, who already works with the firm’s top clients, was appointed vice chairman.

Supurna VedBrat was named the new head of global trading.
