BlackRock has named Christian Staub as new country head for Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Based in London, Staub will be report to David Blumer, BlackRock’s head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In his new role, Staub will be responsible for the business in Austria and Eastern Europe.

Previously, Dirk Klee served as country head for Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe, while Martin Gut served as country head for Switzerland.

Staub has joined BlackRock from Pimco, where he has was responsible for setting up Pimco’s presence in Switzerland. He has previously worked for Pimco’s institutional business in the US.

Blumer said: "Germany and Switzerland are BlackRock’s key market in Europe. This is an excellent opportunity to pool the management of the region."
