Fund manager BlackRock has appointed two senior investment professionals, Charlie Lanchester and Madeleine Beaumont, in its newly created Australian fundamental equities team.

Lanchester has been recruited as the team’s head, and Beaumont as its senior portfolio manager.

In their new role, effective from 1 June 2015, the duo will be tasked with building a fundamental equities team and developing a product offering for clients.

Lanchester will report to alpha strategies Asia Pacific chief investment officer Belinda Boa. He began his career at Schroders in London and joined BlackRock from Perpetual Investments.

At Perpetual, Lanchester worked in the position of deputy head of Australian equities for the past 14 years, where he was responsible for managing several portfolios. Before that, he served as an analyst at Platinum Asset Management in Sydney.
