Barclays has named Claudio Corradini as its new CEO for its retail and business banking in Iberia with immediate effect.

Corradini joins the business after serving as the firm’s retail and business banking head in Italy. Before joining Barclays in 2010 as Italy CFO, he held a number of senior roles at companies including Accenture, ABN Amro and RBS, with a particular focus on Europe.

Curt Hess, CEO of Barclays Europe Retail and Business Banking, said: "We are pleased to appoint Corradini to lead the Iberian business forward at an exciting time for Barclays as we go about delivering our strategy to become the ‘Go-To’ Premier bank in Europe."

In addition, Tony Blanco, current CEO of Barclays Retail and Business Banking in France and country manager of Barclays France, has been named as CEO of RBB Italy to manage the business in Italy.

Blanco will be supported by RBB Italy chief commercial officer and deputy CEO Lorenzo Bassani, working alongside Alessandra Perrazzelli, country manager in Italy.

Furthermore, Barclays has also appointed Antonio Castro as Consejero Delegado of Barclays Bank SAU (BB SAU) its subsidiary in Spain, and Barclays Spain country manager.

Castro joined Barclays in 2007 after serving the Government as Government Lawyer during three years and as head of legal for ADIF (Administrator of Railway Infrastructures Spain).

In his new roles, Castro will be actively supported by Carlos Martínez de Campos, chairman of BB SAU.
