Aviva Investors, the global asset management arm of British insurer Aviva, has named Al Denholm as the CIO of its new solutions unit.

Based in London, Denholm will spearhead a unit that is responsible for creating client-specific solutions and will work alongside investment teams in equities, fixed income, multi-asset and real assets.

The new unit encompasses investment solutions, responsible investment, securities finance, investment risk and portfolio construction, as well as LDI businesses.

In the new role, Denholm will report to the firm’s CEO Euan Munro and will also become a member of the executive team.

Denholm most recently worked at Prudential Portfolio Management Group, where he managed a £185bn standalone business.

In his asset management career of over three decades, he also served as the head of multi-asset client solutions for EMEA at BlackRock and deputy global CIO at ING Investment Management.
