Abbot Downing, part of Wells Fargo’s Wealth and Investment Management group, has launched an office in Atlanta to offer tailored services to ultra-high-net-worth clients.

The new office will be headed by Abbot Downing managing director David Edmiston. He most recently served as regional managing director in Georgia at Wells Fargo Private Bank.

He led teams offering investment management, private banking, trust, estate, credit, and integrated wealth management services at Wells Fargo Bank, as well as insurance and brokerage teams at Wells Fargo Advisors.

Abbot Downing senior managing Jack Ginter said: “With the current merger and acquisition activity and wealth transfer needs, Abbot Downing is excited to work with clients to address these needs in the Atlanta metro area.

“Our clients want an integrated offering of services combined with a high-touch client service experience. In our experience, successful individuals and families are looking for wealth managers who can go beyond the numbers to help them use their wealth to positively impact their families and their communities.”

Abbot Downing, created through the merger of multiple businesses of Wells Fargo in 2012, managed $39bn in client assets as of 31 December 2016. The firm also has offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Scottsdale, Houston, Minneapolis, Chicago, Philadelphia, Winston-Salem, Raleigh, New York, Washington, D.C., and Palm Beach.
