Seven Investment Management (7IM), a UK-based investment manager, has hired Martyn Surguy from Credit Suisse to serve as its CIO.

Surguy replaces Ian Jensen-Humphreys who has been serving as the CIO on an interim basis following the exit of Chris Darbyshire in December last year.

At Credit Suisse, Surguy worked as head of investment management at its UK unit.

Commenting on Surguy, 7IM CEO Tom Sheridan said: “His multi-asset background is a perfect fit for 7IM, while his experience of also managing equity portfolio management teams will bring additional expertise.”

“I would also like to thank Ian Jensen-Humphreys, whose excellent stewardship over the last year as acting CIO has given us the time and space to conduct a rigorous search and who remains a huge asset to our senior team,” Sheridan noted.

Surguy previously served as the CIO for EMEA at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management.

He also worked at Morgan Grenfell that became Deutsche Bank, holding the role of international CIO and head of UK portfolio management at the firm.

“Having spent most of my working life in the wealth management division of large integrated banks, the appeal of working for a smaller dedicated investment manager with a broad investment offering was huge. I am excited to join a company where discretionary wealth management is at its core,” Surguy noted.
