North America witnessed a 12.1% rise in IT hiring activity in the banking and payments industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
August 2021 has seen an increase of 14.47% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 14.42% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.36% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 62.54% in August 2021, a 9.52% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 14.27% in August 2021, marking a 26.7% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 9.82% in August 2021, a 39.46% rise from July 2021.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 7.34% in August 2021, a 38.71% rise over the previous month.
Top five banking and payments companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 25.55% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s banking and payments industry during August 2021 over previous month.
JPMorgan Chase posted 965 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 29.53% over the previous month, followed by Wells Fargo with 776 jobs and a 17.93% growth. Citizens Financial Group with 741 IT jobs and Citigroup with 641 jobs, recorded a 6.91% drop and a 47.7% rise, respectively, while The Charles Schwab recorded an 85.29% increase with 567 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s banking and payments industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with an 86.14% share in August 2021, a 19.77% increase over July 2021. Canada featured next with a 10.3% share, up 11.03% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 3.56% share, a drop of 11.48% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.54%, up by 20.25% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 31.74% share, registered a growth of 11.32% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.93% share, up 21.99% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.79%, recording a month-on-month growth of 18.02%.
