BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has appointed Luiz Sorge to lead its Latin American business.
Luiz, who is also the CEO of BNPP AM Brazil, will oversee BNPP AM’s Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Mexico, and Peru businesses as part of his new role.

“Luiz will look to further grow BNPP AM’s presence and capabilities across the region, whilst continuing to provide the long-term sustainable investment solutions for our clients,” the firm said in a statement.
Based in São Paulo, Luiz will report to Global Head of Client Group (GCG) Sandro Pierri.
Commenting on the appointment of Luiz, Pierri said: “LatAm is a strategically important region for BNPP AM globally, as part of our Emerging Markets focus. Luiz has extensive experience in the asset management industry and a great understanding of the region.
“His appointment will enable us to accelerate our business development in LatAm by adopting a more integrated approach and enhancing client servicing. I welcome Luiz to his new role and wish him every success.”

By GlobalDataLuiz’s stint at BNPP AM started in 2001 in the role of the director of Products for BNPP AM Brasil.
He has held various senior roles at the firm including the head of Sales & Product Development for institutional and individual investors, external distributors and foreign investors, as well as CEO of BNPP AM Brasil.
Previously, he served as the associate director of CCF Brasil Asset Management and head of Pension Products.
Last month, BNPP AM appointed Johanna Lasker and Amanda Raynor as the CEO and deputy CEO, respectively, for the US.
In July this year, BNPP AM named Steven Billiet as the new head of its Asia Pacific unit, replacing Ligia Torres.
