AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has appointed Francisco Arcilla as its new head of Japan, replacing Mikifumi Watanabe who is set to retire on 30 June of this year.
Arcilla will be based in Tokyo and will be responsible to lead the firm’s distribution and business development in Japan.

He will report to AXA IM global head of client group Christophe Coquema.
Arcilla joined AXA IM in 2011 in the position of global head of AXA IM’s funds of hedge funds team before running the external managers group.
He most recently served as the director of product development at AXA Rosenberg.
Before his stint at AXA IM, Arcilla held the role of co-head of investments at Swiss alternative solutions boutique EIM.
