Smith & Williamson has hired Lucy Mitchell as its new associate director, for developing its discretionary proposition.

In the new capacity, Mitchell will be responsible for developing the firm’s managed portfolio service and discretionary fund management offering. She will report to head of distribution Mickey Morissey.

Smith & Williamson head of the funds business Ed Rosengarten said: "The appointment of Lucy is a strong signal to the market of our intention to develop further our wealth management capability in the IFA market. Lucy adds a high degree of experience in this field and makes a valuable addition to Smith & Williamson."

Most recently, Mitchell served at Canaccord Genuity as business development manager. She held this role for the last four years, where she was responsible for developing the company’s IFA solutions, including model portfolios as well as a multi-strategy fund.

Before that, she served as a client portfolio manager at SCDavies & Co.
