New Capital, a unit of EFG Asset Management, has hired UK equity fund manager John Leahy from Hermes to roll out a new UK equity fund.

In his new role, Leahy will be responsible for UK equities and manage a UK equity fund that complements New Capital’s fund range. He will be based in London.
Leahy joined New Capital from Hermes Investment Management, where he managed UK smaller company strategies for 14 years, including the Hermes UK Small and Mid Cap UCITS fund. He joined the firm as an analyst in 1998.
Prior to this, he worked with London-based group G. Ullman Fund Management as a US equity portfolio manager.
