The awards, now in their 19th year, have become
synonymous with the most distinguished private banking performers,
and are known as the industry’s most prestigious accolades. All of
the details on the awards categories, and how to nominate your own
and other banks, are provided on page three.

Last year’s winners included a host of banks
and private bankers that have continued to excel in 2009. The most
topical among them is Boris Collardi, the 34-year old Julius Baer
COO who recently became CEO of the bank – the youngest ever head of
a leading Swiss private bank (see Julius Baer plays its ace
card
). Collardi was awarded PBI’s Outstanding Young
Private Banker award at the ceremony, last year held in Singapore’s
St Regis Hotel.

This year, no wealth manager has been able to
completely sidestep the financial crisis. Yet Credit Suisse,
awarded last year’s top award for Outstanding Private Bank –
Global, has continued to draw in client money and is attracting
talent and clients from UBS. It has also continued to invest in
staff, in particular hiring big-hitters in the ultra high net worth
area.

Like last year, the awards come in the middle
of a two-day conference organised by VRL, publishers of
PBI, providing networking opportunities with global
private banking heads and presentations on key industry themes.
