SEI, a US-based investment processing solutions provider, has hired Michael Cagnina as new vice president and managing director of North American sales for its institutional group.

He will replace Paul Klauder, who has been appointed as SEI’s executive vice president and head of the institutional group in January 2016 following Edward Loughlin’s retirement.

In his new role, Cagnina will be responsible for leading new business development for the institutional market segments in the US and Canada including corporate defined benefit and defined contribution plans, multiemployer plans, public pension plans, healthcare organizations and nonprofit foundations, and endowments.

Cagnina was most recently a managing director of SEI Institutional Group’s Chicago office, where he was responsible for fostering new business relationships with large institutional investors in the US.

Prior to this, he also held senior role at SEI Capital Resources where he was responsible for portfolio analysis and client service.

Klauder said: "Having worked closely with Mike for more than two decades, I’m extremely confident in his leadership capabilities and investment expertise as we continue to grow our Institutional investor business."
