The UK’s Investment Association (IA) has named Chris Cummings as its new CEO, following the departure of Daniel Godfrey in October 2015.

Cummings will replace Guy Sears, who has been working as interim CEO since the last five months. He will join the trade body by the end of the third quarter of 2016.

He most recently served at TheCityUK, which he launched in June 2010 and was the founding CEO.

Prior to that, he worked for seven years in the role of director general at AIFA, the trade body for financial advisers.

IA chair Helena Morrissey said: "Under Chris’s leadership the IA will continue to work with all our stakeholders to serve our members and shape the investment industry to meet the needs of savers.

"The Board would like to thank Guy Sears for his work and achievements as Interim Chief Executive, including the launch of the Productivity Action Plan to boost the British economy and a major pledge to develop a new generation of Disclosure Codes."
