Boston Private, a provider of integrated wealth management, trust and private banking services, has appointed George Schwartz as CEO of its Private Banking Group.

Schwartz will manage the bank’s deposit and cash management, residential mortgage and commercial lending business lines, and will report directly to Boston Private CEO Clayton Deutsch.

He joined Boston Private Bank’s leadership team in 1998, and has held the roles of COO and treasurer.

In addition, the company has named James Brown and Torrance Childs to the newly-created positions of co-presidents of the Private Banking Group.

Further, Childs has been recruited to the board of directors of Boston Private Bank.

Brown will continue to head Boston Private’s Commercial Banking Group, while Childs will continue in his capacity as the company’s national director of deposit management.

The company has also promoted Gisela LoPiano and Robert Nentwig to the role of executive vice president in the Commercial Banking Group. LoPiano and Nentwig hold the role of Commercial Banking Group’s east coast and west coast market leaders respectively.

Further, Nicholas Hofer has been promoted to the position of executive vice president in the Private Clients Group, based out of Boston Private’s San Francisco and San Mateo offices. Hofer will continue to work as the firm’s west coast market leader.
