Indian investment bank Equirus Capital has reshuffled its top-level management under which it promoted Ajit Deshmukh as the head of investment banking, a position that was till now held by founder and MD Ajay Garg.

Garg will move out of daily operations of the investment banking vertical but will continue to mentor the investment banking team, the company said.

"He (Garg) will now focus on broad – basing the financial services business for Equirus with plans for portfolio management services and wealth management, along with the institutional equities arm which has been operational for over five years now," the company said in a press statement.

Deshmukh, who had been the key management person at Equirus since 2012, lead the technology space and played key role in cross – border M&A and fund – raising for technology companies.

Prior to Equirus, Deshmukh was the founder & managing director at Wizarth Advisors. He merged the company with Equirus in 2012.

Additionaly, the company announced that Sandeep Gogia will now take charge of the technology and the cross border M&A vertical from Deshmukh.
