W1M Wealth Management has appointed Wenyu Bai as its first head of AI, creating the role as part of an investment in operational capacity and the use of artificial intelligence.
Bai joins from St James’s Place. She has more than 18 years’ experience in wealth management, pension investment consultancy, and the management of AI and automation programmes.

She will be responsible for setting W1M’s AI strategy and overseeing the adoption of related technologies across the firm.
Her remit will include assessing potential uses of AI, support efficiency initiatives, and considering its impact on client services.
Bai will work with chief technology officer Edward Blake on the implementation of AI across the business.

The appointment follows W1M’s merger two years ago and forms part of wider investment in the firm. W1M reported 16 net hires and around 4.5% growth in headcount during the first quarter of 2026.
